STANISLAUS, Calif.— The San Francisco State softball team wrapped up the Tournament of Champions, presented by Mizuno and hosted by Stanislaus State, on Sunday with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Hawai'i Hilo.
- SF State improves to 16-21 overall while Hawai'i Hilo moves to 14-17.
- Lehua DeLeon had three stolen bases and leads the team with 29. Sydney Jenkins also had one, bringing the team's season total to 101 for the season. That surpasses the 2005 team that had 97 for third-most in a single season by a Gators team.
- The Gators ended the game with their 25th double play of the season, which leads NCAA Division II.
- Brylynn Vallejos, who was named to the Schutt Sports/NFCA DII Player & Pitcher of the Year Top 50 earlier this week, has hit safely in her last 14 games.
- Jenkins with 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs.
- SF State wasted no time scoring. Lehua DeLeon singled, stole second, then third, and scored on Jenkins' two-out single to center field.
- UHH answered in the top of the second and grabbed a 2-1 lead thanks to back-to-back singles from Sarah Zuniga and Angel Prewitt.
- In the top of the third, Chloe Domingo sent a two-out single to center to make it a 3-1 Vulcans lead.
- SF State answered in the bottom half of the third. With her younger sister at third base, LeHua DeLeon stole second. Kira Nilson followed with a sac fly that scored Kai DeLeon and Jenkins sent a two-out single to right field that brought home the elder DeLeon.
- The Gators took the lead for good in the fifth. Vallejos drew a leadoff walk, LeHua Deleon reached on an error at third. Then, an error at second allowed Nilson to reach safely and Vallejos scored what turned out to be the winning run.
- SF State stranded a potential insurance run at third in the sixth and UHH made the Gators sweat in the seventh with a single and a walk, followed by an error, that loaded the bases. Kaitlyn Maddux struck out Makena Goldbeck and induced a double play to end the game.
- Lexi Holihan started and Kaitlyn Maddux (7-13) picked up her team-leading seventh win with four scoreless innings of relief.
- Alexis Lacy gave up three earned runs in three and a third innings of work and left with a no-decision for the Vulcans.
- Malia Risdall (0-4) only gave up a hit in an inning and two thirds but walked a pair that set up the go-ahead run. Sara Bhatt pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
