SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's soccer team played to another scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon at Cox Stadium, this time finishing 0-0 with visiting Chico State.
- SF State moves to 2-2-4 overall and 0-0-2 in CCAA play while the Wildcats
- The Gators outshot the Wildcats 9-6. SF State took four shots on goal and prevented the Wildcats offense from attempting one of their own.
- SF State also held a 5-3 corner kick advantage.
The Gators attacked out of the gates. Justin Wolfe got into the box for a shot but the goalkeeper charged to make the save, resulting in a corner kick. In the sixth minute, Gustavo Ferrari sprinted downfield but was defended well and his shot went high.
The Wildcats, who didn't register a shot in the first half, went on the offensive and took three in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The Wildcats had a dangerous opportunity in the 59th minute but Miles Rice's shot was blocked at the goal mouth by a Gators defender. The Gators countered in the 60th minute but Emerson Trujillo's shot from just outside the left side of the goal box was saved. Cayden Hotaling ha an opportunity for the Wildcats in the 88th minute but his header at the face of the goal drifted high and out. However, the Gators couldn't clear a ball, which resulted in a corner kick for the Wildcats, who got another header from Rice that went high. Gustavo Ferrari had a shot in the 89th minute but his shot was blocked.
Matias Herrera Fuentes (1-1-3) notched his third shutout of the season and notched three saves. Luis Albarran made four saves in the shutout for the Wildcats.
