How it Happened

The Gators started of slow in the first quarter, only shooting 16.7 % from the field and missing all six three attempts. SF State stayed within a possession of the Warriors throughout the first by playing tight defense. The Gators had two steals, two blocks and helped force five turnovers to trail 11-10 after one quarter.

A 10-2 run to open the second quarter put the Gators up 20-13. The Warriors responded with a scoring run of their own to reclaim the lead at 23-22 with 3:22 remaining. With under a minute to go, Muirae Gomez went for a lay-up and made the foul shot to complete the three-point play and put the Gators up 30-29 at the half.

After Tierra Snipes' layup a second within the start of the third quarter, the Warriors tied things up with a three on their next made basket. The teams exchanged leads seven times, with the Warriors never extending their lead to more than two possessions in the third.

Down 56-52 to start the final frame, a 12-0 scoring run from the Warriors gave them a comfortable lead. Late game scoring continued to be an issue for the Gators as the team went 3-for-12 from the field.
