How it Happened

A close first quarter saw neither team go up by more than two possessions. A made free throw by Madison Perry gave the Lumberjacks their biggest lead of the first quarter at 14-9. The Gators immediately responded with their next two possessions as Muirae Gomez made a jumper and Taimane Lesa-Hardee scored a three to tie things up. Tied with seconds to go in the first, Samaria Velazquez drove the ball down the court to give the Gators a 20-18 lead as time expired.

Tied 22-22, the Gators went on a huge 17-3 run, going 6-for-8 from the field during that run. They finished the second quarter going 64.3 percent from the field to go up 45-33.

The Lumberjacks came out of the locker room hot and outscored the Gators 27-8 in the third quarter while going 55.0 percent from the field. The Gators did not force a turnover during that stretch while they made four during the fourth quarter.

A late rally had the Gators within two possessions with 35 seconds left. Gomez grabbed the offensive board and looked to pass but the ball was intercepted, essentially icing the game.
