ARCATA, Calif. — The San Francisco State men's basketball team saw its four-game win streak ended at Lumberjack Arena on Thursday night in a staggering 85-37 loss to host Cal Poly Humboldt.
- The Gators (9-10/5-8 CCAA) had won four straight games with the streak bookended by a pair of losses to the third-place Lumberjacks (10-9/8-5 CCAA).
- The Gators' 37 points were the fewest since March 3, 2006 in a 50-38 loss to UC San Diego.
- Jake Paxton led SF State with eight points in 24 minutes, both season-highs for the guard. CJ Bellamy and Jonah Roth had seven points apiece.
- Ian Krishnan led the Lumberjacks with 25 points. Josh Berenbaum added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Amari Green scored a dozen points.
- The Gators were outrebounded 38-23, the largest margin of difference this season for SF State.
- SF State committed 21 turnovers, marking the fourth time this season they've made 20 or more.
The Lumberjacks led wire-to-wire. Green opened play with a three-pointers and the Gators countered with an
Eche Okeke layup but the Gators offense was quiet after that. The Gators didn't score again until the 15-minute mark when Bellamy pulled the Gators to within in six. Down seven, the Lumberjacks went on a 9-0 run to take a commanding 16-point lead. The deficit grew to as large as 24 and was 38-16 at the half. The Gators improved their shooting percentage in the second half but so did the Lumberjacks, who outscored SF State 47-21 in the final twenty minutes.
The Gators head to Sonoma State on Saturday, January 28 for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The game will be broadcast on the CCAA Network with live stats available at sfstategators.com. In-game updates will also available on Twitter at @sfstate_mbb.
