CARSON, Calif. — The San Francisco State women's soccer team beat Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-0 at Toro Stadium for their first conference win of the season. Offensively, the Gators were aggressive and took a season high 21 shots with 10 on goal.
- The Gators improve to 2-6-1 and 1-1-0 in conference. The Toros fall to 1-6-2 and 0-1-1 in conference.
- Grace Messenger and Rachel Handy each score their first collegiate goals. Samantha Shim records her first assist of the season.
- SF State now has a streak of scoring in four straight games for the first time since the 2018 season. It also marks the first time this season the Gators have kept their opponent off the board.
- The 21 shots nearly doubled the previous season high of 12.
- Messenger had a game high four shots on goal.
In the 27th minute, Shim passed the ball from midfield into the box where Messenger was waiting. She shot the ball past the keeper on the right to get the Gators on the board. Handy was one-on-one with the Toros keeper in the 43rd minute. The keeper made the save on the first shot but Handy cashed in on the deflection to go up 2-0. The Toros came close to scoring in the 86th minute with back-to-back shots but both shots were saved by the keeper.
Cameryn Nunn (1-3) made her third start of the season a picked up her first career clean sheet. She made six saves in the match. Abigail Escalante had eight saves in the loss for the Toros.
