By the Numbers

  • The Gators slip to to 3-8-2 and 2-3-1 in CCAA action. The Gators entered the day in sixth place but slip into a tie for eighth, but remain just a point out of sixth. Cal State San Marcos has gone unbeaten over its last seven contests and improves to 7-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in conference action. That leads the CCAA with 14 points.
  • Of the Gators' eight losses, seven have been by shutout.
  • CSUSM outshot SF State 15-2. The Gators did not attempt a shot on goal. Sunday marked the first contest this season that the Gators have not attempted a shot on goal. It is also the first match dating back to September 23, 2022 when the Gators played to a scorless draw versus Cal Poly Humboldt.
  • Reserves Cheyenne Dohan and Catherine Flores attempted SF State's two shots.
  • The Cougars also held a 7-1 corner kick advantage.

How It Happened

The Cougars scored in the 21st minute when they intercepted a pass and played a ball to Gabby Marsh. Claire Hernandez intercepted the ball, then passed ahead on the right side to Nani Kia'aina, who passed on the same side to Marsh at the top of the box, who avoided a defender for the finish.

In the 75th minute, the Gators failed to clear the ball after a goal kick. Emily Mahmoud controlled the ball and passed to Brianna Delgado, who finished near the PK area to make it 2-0.
