TURLOCK, Calif.— The San Francisco State women's basketball team dropped a close contest to Stanislaus State 77-72 at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena. The difference came from the Warriors' ability to shoot from three as Stanislaus State went 11-for-15 from deep.
- The Gators fall to 2-4 and 1-1 in conference play. Stanislaus now stands at 6-4 and 2-0 in the CCAA.
- Alexsandra Alvarado led the team with 19 points and a career-high seven assists. Talia Garner had 18 while Imani Felix chipped in 12.
- SF State was perfect from the charity strip but only had 12 shots at the line. The Warriors went 12-for-22.
- Stanislaus dominated the glass 47-28.
- The Gators went 8-for-23 from three with Garner going 4-for-8
After a 9-1 start to the game, Stanislaus scored six points to make it a one possession game in the first quarter. Alverado accounts for six of eight points to put the Gators up 20-12 with 1:45 left in the first. A three-point basket from the Warriors cut the lead to five before the end of the first. A big second quarter from Stanislaus switched momentum in their favor. Stanisluas went 9-for-21 from the field including 4-for-5 from three. The Gators turned the ball over seven times as Stanislaus outscored SF State 23-12 to take a 38-32 lead going into the half.
The Gators hung around in the third quarter but saw Stanislaus take a 15-point lead with 5:34 remaining in the game. A three-point basket from Perséas Gioukaris cut the deficit down to 74-66 and gave the Gators a chance to comeback with 2:43 remaining. SF State missed on the following two possessions and turned the ball over on the third to drain too much time off the clock.
