How it Happened

Roth kept the Gators in it early. In the first five minutes, he scored all nine of SF State's points on three three-pointers but the Pioneers still led 12-9. Roth kept up his hot half with a layup and another three-pointer that gave the Gators their first lead, 23-22, inside the eight-minute mark. The Gators pushed that lead to four but the Pioneers answered. At the four-minute mark, Campbell hit a three-pointer and 45 seconds later, Klonaras laid one up to put the Pioneers back in front, 32-31. A Cooks three-pointer pulled the Gators to within one but SF State trailed 41-36 at the break.

SF State used a 6-1 run to tie the game at 42-42 and went ahead when Oden got his own shot back to make it 44-43. However, the Pioneers answered on a 17-1 run over the next four minutes. Over that span, the Gators went without a field goal and committed five turnovers, drastically shifting the game's momentum into CSUEB's favor, 58-45. Alex Gilat hit a three but the damage was done. SF State cut the lead to six with under two minutes to go but was only able to get one stop after that.
