How it Happened

Both teams started slow in the first quarter as the Gators missed several shots and the Cougars turned the ball over four times. Down 10-5 with under a minute to go, the Gators quickly tied it up with a basket from Samaria Velazquez and a buzzer-beat three from Blake.

Muirae Gomez went on a solo 6-0 run to give the Gators their first lead at 16-13. The lead was short lived after a three from the Cougars tied the game up again. Down by two with under a minute to go, Taimane Lesa-Hardee tied things up to give the Gators a tie going into the locker room.
The Gators third quarter woes continued as they only managed five points. The Cougars used a 10-0 run that started in the third quarter and went into the fourth to take a 16-point lead. SF State found some better rhythm in the fourth quarter but the Gators were unable to slow down a Cougars team that shot 72.7 percent from the field in the fourth.
