San Francisco State's Kaitlyn Maddux has been selected as the CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of January 30 to February 5.
Maddux dominated in the circle with two complete game victories to help the Gators begin the year at 4-1.
In the season opener against Hawaii Pacific, Maddux allowed only three hits and two unearned runs to lead SF State to a 3-2 win and Head Coach Alicia Reid's 100th career victory. After allowing a single to lead off the fifth, Maddux allowed just one base runner the rest of the game, and she retired the final six batters she faced. Maddux finished with eight strikeouts over seven strong innings.
The next day against Northwest Nazarene, Maddux also went the distance allowing three hits and three runs (two earned). She worked around trouble in three innings and helped the Gators begin the season at 4-1 for the program's best start since 2013.
Maddux finished the weekend with 14 innings pitched, six hits allowed, five runs (two earned), and 16 strikeouts. Opponents hit just .125 off Maddux.
The sophomore from Grass Valley (Bear River HS) is the first Gator to receive CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors since Emily Mitchell in 2019.
San Francisco State will be back in Southern California this weekend to play doubleheaders against Biola on Friday, February 10 and No. 19 Concordia on Sunday, February 12. The Gators will open CCAA play at home on Friday, February 17 against Sonoma State.
