SAN FRANCISCO – Four San Francisco State men's basketball players have earned All-CCAA honors for the 2022-23 season, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon. Seniors
Jalen Flanagan and
Eche Okeke have been named to the Second Team while senior
Toby Okwuokei and junior
Jonah Roth garnered Honorable Mention.
In 27 games, Flanagan has 20 starts and is averaging 28.9 minutes per game. He finished the regular season with a career-high 22 points. He grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds in the second game of the season. The Oceanside native is shooting 45.5 percent (115-of-253) from the field and is averaging 10.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
Okeke, who on Monday was named the season's final CCAA Player of the Week, finished the regular season with a career-high 23 points. He has appeared in all 28 games with 27 starts, and is averaging a team-leading 29.1 minutes per game. The senior forward is averaging a team-high 12.1 points per game on a team-leading 52.3 percent shooting (123-of-235), including 35 percent (7-of-20) from deep. The Hayward native is also averaging 6.3 rebounds per game and has recorded six double-doubles. He also has a team-leading 24 blocks.
Okwuokei, who was a Second Team selection a year ago, shifted from point guard to shooting guard this season. The Rancho Cucamonga native has appeared in 28 games with 26 starts. He is averaging 10.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
Roth has appeared in 25 games with 23 starts. He is averaging 10.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. At 36.4 percent (44-of-121), the Monterey native is the team's top three-point threat. On November 26, he scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting.
SF State, which qualified for the CCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2019, is the No. 3 seed. The Gators will face No. 6 Chico State in the opening game of the tournament on Thursday, March 2 at Noon in Turlock. Tickets are
