How They Scored

  • Leadoff batter Mikaela Harris got the Lumberjacks going early on. She led the bottom of the first off with an infield single, stole second, moved up on an Izzy Starr single, and scored on a groundout.
  • SF State only had two hits in the game but they came at the right time. Mia Misasi led off the sixth with a double that turned around right fielder Ciera Pyle. Misasi moved up to third on DeLeon's groundout and scored when she beat the throw home on Marley Gonzales' chopper to short. However, Gonzales tried to get to second when the ball skipped away from Starr at the dish but a favorable bounce off the backstop allowed Starr to catch Gonzales heading into second.
  • In the seventh, Daniella Guerrera drew a full-count walk, then moved up on a sac bunt. Once Guerrera reached scoring position, Maddie Scott came in to run and the speedy freshman beat the throw home when Marisa Jordan singled her home with a shallow hit to the grass in left field that turned out to the be the game-winner.

How They Scored

  • After the Gators went down quietly through the first three innings, the Lumberjacks struck for a three-run third. Shelby Shanks walked and stole second. Alyssa Smokey singled and McKenna Beach followed with another to make it 1-0. The Gators got back-to-back outs but Katlyn Gifford singled and an outfield error on the play led to an unearned run, then a wild pitch made it 3-0.
  • Both teams left the bases loaded in the fourth but the Gators tied it up in the fifth. Misasi ripped a double down the left field line to get the Gators on the board. After a pitching change and with two outs, Gonzales doubled home to center to score Misasi, and Nilson brought Gonzales home to tie the game 3-3 with an RBI single to center.
  • In the eighth inning, Nilson singled to right and moved into scoring position on Guerrera's sac bunt. Vincent gave the Gators the lead with an RBI double down the left field line. The Gators got an 8-4 double play to end the game.
