By the Numbers

  • The Gators (7-10) snapped a nine-game skid while the Urban Knights fall to 3-11.
  • SF State launched four home runs on the day, bringing the team total to six this season. Teya Vincent had one in each game and leads the team with three.
  • The Gators cranked out 20 hits and the offense really came alive in game two. SF State scored 11 runs on 12 hits with 11 RBI, all three of which were team season highs.
  • SF State struck out just twice on the day and did not record a strikeout in game two.
  • Phoebe Schultz went 4-for-7 on the day.
  • Marley Gonzales went 3-for-3 with a home run in game two.
  • Vincent hit .429 (3-for-7) with a pair of home runs, two runs, and 4 RBI. The team's lone senior also played phenomenal defense and had a hand in 62 percent (26) of the team's outs. She made 13 catches at the hot corner, had six putouts, and made seven assists, all without an error.

How They Scored

  • Cailee Grayhorse-Pupecki got ART U on the scoreboard first with an RBI single down the right field line.
  • The Gators answered in the bottom half of the inning when Daniella Guerrera launched an 0-1 pitch to center field.
  • SF State took the lead in the third inning with two outs when shortstop Haley Randall couldn't handle a ball by Vincent. The ball glanced off her glove and trickled into center, which allowed Nilson to score.
  • In the sixth, Vincent gave the Gators an insurance run with a solo shot to left center.
  • Down to its final out, ART U got a run back in the seventh when Grayhorse-Pupecki doubled home Elle Edeker, who had reached on an error.

How They Scored

  • Marley Gonzales got things started with a first inning home run and Schultz added a two-out RBI single to make it 2-0.
  • The Urban Knights knotted it up in the top of the second. The first two batters reached and Edeker drove both home with a single to center.
  • SF State responded by hanging a crooked number in the bottom half of the inning. Mia Misasi doubled, DeLeon walked, and Gonzales laid down a bunt single that plated Misasi. Nilson kept the line going with an RBI single to center, then Nilson and Gonzales executed a double steal. A Guerrera walk chased starter Arnold-Jolle. Vincent grounded out but drove home a run and Schultz doubled home two more to make it 7-2.
  • In the third, the Gators added another run when Gonzales doubled home DeLeon.
  • The Urban Knights pulled to within two with  four unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth but SF State countered with a three-run sixth. Gonzales led off with a four-pitch walk, then stole second. Nilson laid down a bunt single, and Guerrera squeezed home Gonzales with a bunt single of her own. Then, Vincent sent the first pitch she saw for a three-run shot over the wall in center.
  • In the seventh, Grayhorse doubled home another ART U run but ended the game trying to get to third on the play.

  • Jade Johnson entered in the sixth and was charged with three runs in her first career outing.
  • Arnold-Jolley (0-5) lasted just an inning and a third and gave up seven runs on six hits. Sydney Harmon and Kamielle Powell combined on the final four and two thirds innings of work.
