How It Happened

Nick Upstill scored the first run of the game, hitting a solo shot over the right field fence in the top of the third. Nathan Shinn, who had kept the Otters off the board through five, gave up his first earned runs of the season in the bottom of the sixth. After miscues allowed a pair of Otters on the bases, a home run by Drew Williams gave the Otters the lead. Back-to-back RBIs in the bottom of the sixth increased the lead to 5-1. The pitching staff and defense held the Otters scoreless the rest of the way but the offense stayed mostly silent for the Gators.
