SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team brought the momentum from this past weekend in game one of a make-up series with Chico State, shutting out the Wildcats 9-0. The defense held steady and stranded 10 Wildcat runners.
- The Gators improve to 20-12 and 13-11 in the CCAA. The Wildcats fall to 15-15 and 9-11 in the CCAA. SF State now has three shut-out victories on the season, most since the 2017 season.
- SF State left five runners on base compared to Chico's 10.
- Sammy Gonzales went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Michael Cunningham was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs, RBIs and his fifth homer of the season.
- Justin Clark hit his 11th double of the season.
Gonzales hit a leadoff double in the first at bat and
Nick Upstill hit an RBI single to bring him home. Cunningham took the first base he saw in the bottom of the second inning and launched it over the left field fence.
AJ Schrader kicked off a three-run fifth inning, advancing to third on a fielder's choice and scoring thanks to a throwing error by the shortstop. Clark cleared the bases with a two-run RBI double to increase the lead to 5-0 for the Gators. In the bottom of the sixth,
Gavin Haimovitz brought a pair of runners home with a double down the left field line and was advanced to third then home with back-to-back bunts. Cunningham hit a two-out RBI single in the seventh to cap off the Gators' offense for the day.
- Mickey Radanovich got the start in the Gators' bullpen game, going four innings for his first career win. He allowed seven hits and tossed a pair of strikeouts.
- Justice Naraghi went three innings, giving up a pair of walks and a run.
- Gary Grosjean made his first appearance of the season in the bullpen, retiring three straight. Jace Paderez tossed the final frame for the Gators.
- Logan Myers drew the loss for Chico.
