GOLDEN, Colo. — The San Francisco State women's soccer team opened the season with a 4-0 loss to #4 Colorado School of Mines at Stermole Soccer Stadium.
- Colorado School of Mines is coming off a NCAA Quarterfinal Appearance. They fell to eventual National Champion Western Washington.
- The Gators have faced the Orediggers three times since 2000, all resulting in losses. Mines has been ranked no lower than 15th in all three match-ups.
- SF State was outshot 25-6 and only made one shot on goal compared to the Orediggers' 13.
- The Gators did not take a single corner kick while Colorado School of Mines had six.
Ellise Putman crossed the ball through traffic to Bella Campos who trapped it right by front of the box. She shot the ball into the right corner to break the ice at the 35-minute mark.
Colorado School of Mine's keeper sailed the ball past midfield and to the feet of Campos. Tone tried to make the save as the last line of defense but Campos evaded the keeper and scored her second goal of the game at the 71-minute mark.
A foul from Renee Davis gave Colorado Mines a free kick near the box and they capitalized on it. Katie Koehler headed the ball in from Ava Harman. Natalie Rouse added a goal in the 85 minute
After serving as the back-up goalkeeper a season ago, Kylie Tone (0-1) earned the starting job to begin the season. She made a career-high nine saves while allowing a pair of goals. Bella Miseroy subbed in with 15 minutes left in the game and allowed two more goals.
Sadie Wolf earned the clean sheet while only making one save for Mines. She was credited with an assist.
