SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's soccer team beat MSU Denver 2-1 at Cox Stadium to pick up their first win at home. After the Roadrunners equalized in the 48th minute, the Gators regained the lead minutes later and held on for the win.
- The Gators record improves to 2-2-1 while MSU Denver falls to 1-3-2.
- The two teams faced each other in last season's opener. The game finished in a 2-2 tie.
- Julio Gonzalez Ponce scored his second goal of the season while Pedro Moura scored his first in his second game played.
- Izzy Bravo and Emerson Trujillo both earned their first assists of the season.
- The Gators were called for 14 fouls. Each team drew three yellow cards.
Trujillo headed a ball towards Moura and Moura swiftly knocked the ball in the right corner in the 27th minute of the game. In the 48th minute, MSU Denver took advantage of a corner kick, crossed the ball into the box and dumped it in the net. The Gators did not have to wait long to score again. Two minutes later, Bravo passed the ball into the box and Ponce put the ball in the back of the net.
Fernando Escobedo Guzman (1-1) picked up his first win after finishing with five saves. Ross Miller had two saves in the loss.
