LOS ANGELES — The San Francisco State women's soccer team fell 4-1 to Cal State Los Angeles to open conference action.
- The Gators now sit at 1-6-1. The Golden Eagles improve to 4-1-2
- SF State has now scored in three straight games with Lauren Johnston scoring her first career goal.
- The Gators were outshot 19-6 and did not take their first shot until the second half.
- SF State only took two corner kicks compared to Cal State LA's eight.
- The Gators were called for more than twice as many fouls (17) as the Golden Eagles.
The Gators defense held up until the 41st minute when Shelby Melin shot the ball at the top of the net for the Golden Eagle's first goal. Three minutes into the second half, Liliana Gonzalez added another goal. A minute later, the Gators tried to clear a crowded box but were called for a handball. Jassmin Ortiz made the penalty shot. Melin scored her second goal of the evening in the 56th minute. The Gators got on the board in the 71st when Johnston found a ball that no one had secured possession on and launched it in the back of the net.
Miseroy (1-1-1) made her third straight start and played the first half, making three saves. Cameryn Nunn played the second half and had four saves. Taesja Paopao started for the Golden Eagles and did not face a shot on goal in 78 minutes.
