SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's basketball team kept up with Cal State LA in the first two quarters but some shooting woes in third put them behind and ultimately led to a 84-58 loss at Main Gym.
- The Gators fall to 3-11 and 2-7 in conference action. The Golden Eagles improve to 6-8 and 3-6 in the CCAA.
- Alexsandra Alvarado led the Gators with 20 points, including a perfect 9-for-9 at the line.
- The Gators kept up with the Golden Eagles on the glass and had 44 rebounds compared to their 50.
- Cal State shot 41.3 from the field while the Gators shot 27.0.
- After recording a season-low in turnovers the previous game, the Gators turned the ball over 25 times.
The Gators' offense clicked early with Alvarado spearheading the charge with 11 first quarter points. Alvarado had back-to-back scoring possessions to keep the game tied. Down by five in the final minute of the quarter,
Sage Bridges-Bey banked a three to cut the Golden Eagles' lead to 21-19.
Asiasi opened up the second quarter with a three to give the Gators their first lead of the game, but the Golden Eagles responded on the next possession with a three that sparked a 7-0 run. The Gators came back within two but another 7-0 run by the Golden Eagles closed out the second quarter to give the visitors a 41-32 lead.
The Gators opened the third with some baskets at the line to chip away at the lead, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 19-0 run before the Gators would score again. The Gators showed a spark in the final minute and a half, scoring nine points and only allowing one chance at the line. Down 70-46 heading into the fourth, the deficit proved to be too much for the Gators to overcome.
