How It Happened

Aidan Olafson had an early opportunity looking to get the scoring started as he streaked down the right side in the fourth, but his shot was saved the Golden Eagle 'keeper as he dove to his right. Cal State LA broke through in the 20th when Carson Nguyen took a shot that was saved by Frost, but the rebound found Marlon Radel who dished it to Oscar Warne for the goal. The visitors looked to add to their lead in the closing minutes, but Jason Guzman made a nice sliding tackle on the ball to thwart a breakaway.

Barcelos tied things up in the 59th minute as he shot it off the goalie and the deflection bounced in towards the far post to but the Gators on the board. The Golden Eagles continued the pressure, and regained the lead in the 75th as Ignacio Moreno made a nice pass to Matteo Costa, who took a couple dribbles in the box and fired it past Frost for a 2-1 lead.

Quotables

"We were right there in it until the end with the No. 3 team in the country," said Head Coach Sebastian Carrasco. "We've worked on a culture where we battle on every play, for every ball. While we again didn't get the result we wanted, that fight was there today."
