SAN FRANCISCO - Samantha Shim's goal in the 87th minute guided the San Francisco State women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday.
- SF State goes to 3-12-2, 0-8-2 in Conference play, while Dominguez Hills moves to 4-6-6, 2-3-5.
- Kylie Tone got the start in goal and played against her sister, Kaila, who is a defender for the Toros.
- Shim's goal is her first this year and third of her career.
- Renee Davis, Grace Messenger and Shim paced the team with two shots each.
- The Gators had 11 shots, seven of which were on goal. Both those totals are the second most by SF State in a game this season.
The offense came out strong in the first 45, rattling off five shots on goal which all forced great defensive plays by the Toros. Defensively the Gators held Dominguez Hills to just one shot and cleared all three corner attempts by the visitors in the first half.
The Toros made their first shot-on-goal count in the 59th minute when Taya Bohenko passed it to Alyssa Villalobos, who was coming into the box on the right side and kicked it to the far-left corner for the score. The offense kept the foot on the gas and in the 87th minute Shim took advantage of the opportunity when the Toro defender collided with the goalie, and Shim was in the perfect spot to punch it in for the score.
Tone (0-5-2) had four saves for the second consecutive game, and faced eight total shots. Toro goalkeeper Kylie Yuzon (2-2-6) had six saves, the second most in a game by the senior in 2024.
