ARCATA, Calif. — Coming off a late fourth quarter win over Cal State Monterey Bay, the Gators attempted to repeat that performance but fell 69-65 to Cal Poly Humboldt at Lumberjack Arena.
- SF State fall to 5-14 overall and 4-10 in CCAA action. The Lumberjacks improve to 9-9 and 7-7 in the conference.
- Sage Bridges-Bey and Alexsandra Alvarado both scored 20+ points, scoring 21 and 20 points respectively.
- After only shooting 18.8 percent in the first quarter, the Gators finished the game shooting 39.3.
- The two teams were fairly even on the boards, with Humboldt holding a slight 34-33 advantage. Eriel Banks had a career high six boards to tie Bridges-Bey's mark for team lead.
Humboldt made five baskets on its first six possessions to lead 10-5. The Gator offense stalled after the first minute and a half and would not score again until 54 seconds left in the quarter. SF State slowed the Lumberjacks down in the second quarter but trailed 42-22 at the end of the quarter.
With 2:02 remaining in the third quarter, Alvarado's three point jumper sparked a 16-4 run and cut the lumberjacks' lead to 58-50 before they called a timeout with 7:37 remaining in the fourth. Alvarado scored a three on a second chance basket to cut the deficit to 66-62. The Gators made a stop on the next possession and Bridges-Bey landed another three to make it a one-point game.
The Gators fouled and Humboldt made both shots at the line. SF State had a chance to tie the game but could not land a basket and Humboldt survived the comeback.
