Box Score SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men's basketball team had its poorest three-point performance of the season in a 64-54 loss to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday evening at the Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
- SF State slips to 14-10 overall and to a tie for seventh place in the CCAA with Cal State San Marcos at 8-10. The Gators are now a game back of Sonoma State, who picked up 63-60 road win at Cal State LA.
- With the win, CSUSB, who is receiving votes in the latest Top 25 coaches poll, clinches a berth to the CCAA Tournament. The Coyotes stand at 19-5 overall and in second place at 14-4.
- The Gators' two lowest three-point performances have come against the Coyotes. On Thursday night, the Gators shot a season-low 18.2 percent (4-of-22). SF State shot the ball well at the free throw line, where the Gators were 85.7 percent (12-of-14).
- CSUSB shot 50 percent (25-of-50) from the field, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from deep.
- Donovan Cooks led the Gators with 14 points. Devon Jackson added nine points and a team-high five rebounds.
- Sedrick Altman led all players with 16 points. Robby Robinson added 13 points, Christopher Mitchell notched a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and LeAndrew Knight chipped in 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
- CSUSB won the rebounding battle, 34-24.
SF State went scoreless over the first four minutes as CSUSB amassed an 11-0 lead.
Pearse Uniacke's free throw broke the seal at 15:44. The Gators pulled to within six but had a hard time slowing the Coyotes, who shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) in the first half and took a 37-21 lead into the break.
The deficit grew to 20 before the Gators threatened late in the second half. A pair of Daniel-Dalton free throws with 5:30 to go cut the lead to nine. The Gators couldn't come up with a stop though and the Coyotes pushed their lead back to 17. Roth hit a three-pointer with 1:08 to go and the Gators called timeout.
John Bakke fouled with under a minute to go and Robinson missed both free throws, then Cooks hit a three with 50 seconds remaining. With time dwindling, the Gators were forced to foul.

Jake Paxton, making his first appearance back since December 31, scored a three-point play but the Gators still trailed by 10 with no timeouts remaining and let the Coyotes run out the clock.
