SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's basketball team was competitive with Cal State San Bernardino the entire way, but an 11-0 run from the Coyotes to end the game gave San Bernardino a 72-64 win.
- SF State fall to 5-18 overall and 4-14 in CCAA action. The Toros improve to 12-11 and 10-8 in conference.
- Sage Bridges-Bey finished with a game high 20 points and recorded her second double-double of the season adding 12 rebounds. Imani Felix had a career-high 16 points.
- Fouls plagued the Gators with Alexsandra Alvarado and Kierra Johnson both fouling out.
- The Gators had 21 turnovers. The Coyotes scored 15 points off turnovers.
The Gators started the game on a 11-2 run, capped by back-to-back baskets from Bridges-Bey at the end of the run. A jumper from the Coyotes with 1:42 remaining tied the game up at 15-15. SF State turned the ball over on the next possession and the Coyotes retook the lead on free throws. The Gators forced a turnover with 30 seconds left in the quarter and Velazquez made a fast break lay-up to give the Gators a 18-17 advantage after one quarter. A 7-0 run by San Bernardino gave them their largest lead of the game yet up 34-24. The Gators cut away at the lead in the final minute and a half of the second quarter, making four shots at the line while Bridges-Bey hit a buzzer beat three to cut the lead to 38-35.
Bridges-Bey made a pair of three-point baskets to regain the lead for the Gators at 49-46 with 3:17 left in the third. Under a minute to go in the quarter, Alvarado drew a personal and technical foul on one play to foul out. The Gators went into the final frame up 53-50 thanks to a buzzer beater three from
Nyana Asiasi. The Gators would lead by as much as eight in the fourth, making their shots at the line. Up 64-61 with 3:37 left, the Coyotes iced out the Gators and went on a 11-0 run to close out the game.
