SAN FRANCISCO — Ryan Garza went toe-to-toe with Cal State San Bernardino's ace and the San Francisco State baseball team walked-off #11 Cal State San Bernardino 3-2 at Maloney Field to open conference play.
- SF State improves to 7-4 while Cal State San Bernardino falls to 7-4.
- Armando Murillo went 2-for-4 with a homer and the game winning RBI single. He was also responsible for two runs.
- Derek Laferriere, Justin Johnson and Jacob French also had extra base hits, each hitting doubles.
- The Gators outhit the Coyotes 10 to 5 but left nine on base.
Murillo arrived at first safely to open the game when the pitcher dropped a routine pop-up. Murillo stole second when
Daniel Santos struck out and Johnson hit the ball up the middle to drive Murillo home. The Gators had a chance to break the game open in the bottom of the sixth with bases loaded and one out, but Coyotes' pitcher Benny Olguin got them out of a jam. Murillo hit his fourth homer of the year in the seventh to extend the Gators' lead to 2-0.
Garza came out to pitch in the eighth, but gave up a lead-off double and a walk before being retired with one out.
Andrew Silva came on the mound and induced a groundout that scored one for out number two. A single to right center allowed San Bernardino to tie the game.

Nathanial Silva picked a great time for his first hit of the season.
Cole Thompson came in to pinch run, ran to second on a failed pick off and third on a wild pitch. Murillo drove the ball up the middle and Thompson scored with ease.
- Ryan Garza set new career highs in strikeouts (eight) and innings pitched (7.1) in the no-decision. The two runs given up were both in the eighth inning. He also gave up four hits and two runs.
- Andrew Silva pitched 1.2 innings in relief and earned his first win of the season. He only gave up a hit and a walk.
- Benny Olguin started for the Coyotes, tossing nine strikeouts and giving up six hits and a walk. His only run given up was unearned.
- Matthew Henry was charged with the loss.
