SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's basketball team dropped its final home game of the season, 70-46, to Cal State San Marcos on Saturday inside the Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
- SF State falls to 5-21 overall and 4-17 in CCAA action. The Cougars improve to 20-6 and clinch at least a share of the CCAA regular-season title with a 17-4 conference mark.
- Prior to the game, the Gators honored their three seniors, Brilonnie Bell, Kierra Johnson, and Kali Myers.
- Nyana Asiasi made her first four baskets, including three three-pointers. She finished the game 5-of-9 with 13 points.
- Alexsandra Alvarado had nine points, a team-high six rebounds, and five assists for the Gators.
- Samaria Velazquez also added season-high five assists.
- Jordan Vasquez led all players with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 17 rebounds for the Cougars. She is fifth in the CCAA in points per game (16.0) and leads the conference in rebounding (11.8).
- Charity Gallegos and Mina Tameilau added 12 points apiece for the Cougars.
Both teams shot 50 percent or better in the first quarter. The Gators shot 57.1 percent and led 17-14 after the first ten minutes of action.
The Cougars stormed back in the second quarter and went on a 14-5 run to take a 28-22 advantage. CSUSM finished the half on a 4-0 run to take a 34-24 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, SF State cut the lead to four on an Alvarado three-ball but the Cougars pushed their lead back to 10 with a minute to go in the period. CSUSM pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Gators 23-9.
The Gators conclude the 2023-24 season on the road. They'll head to Cal State East Bay on Thursday, February 29 for a 5:30 p.m. game. Fans can stream the game live on the CCAA Network. Live stats will be available at sfstategators.com with updates also available on X at @sfstate_wbb.
