SAN FRANCISCO - After waiting out some rainy weather, San Francisco State split their first doubleheader with Sonoma State. Ryan Garza kept Sonoma in check in a game one 8-2 victory. The Gators came within one run and had the winning run at the plate but ultimately fell 9-8 in game two.

- SF State sits at 18-10 and 12-6 in the CCAA. Sonoma sits at 11-13 and 5-9 in the CCAA.
- Justin Johnson doubled twice in game one and now leads the conference in doubles with 12. Johnson also had four RBIs on the weekend to add to his CCAA leading 38.
- The Gators were able to outhit the Seawolves in game two but finished with 12 runners left on base compared to Sonoma's eight.
- Jacob French and Daniel Santos both homered for the Gators.
- Kyle Olimpia, who was making the start at shortstop for the series, went 6-for-7 with a pair of doubles.
Game One
Jacob French and
Daniel Santos had back-to-back solo home runs to start the game. Johnson hit a double to left center and
AJ Schrader brought him home with a single to right center. Johnson would hit his second double of the game in the fourth and also added to his RBI count to extend the lead to 4-0. Sonoma, who had been hitless through four innings, broke through in the fifth and hit an RBI single to cut into the Gators' lead 4-1.
The Gators responded in the bottom of the inning as Allred and Olimpia hit back-to-back doubles to scratch a run home. After Olimpia was tagged out at third for trying to swipe a bag,
Nicholas Cook took a two-out walk, stole second and was brought home by French. Sugden laid down a sac bunt in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-1. A sac fly in the eighth by Sonoma allowed a run to come across but the Gators would respond with a sac fly of their own and retired three batters straight in the ninth.
- Ryan Garza (4-1) went seven innings and matched his career high of eight strikeouts while only allowing one run and three hits. Garza currently leads the CCAA with 46 strikeouts and is second in ERA at 2.85.
- Ethan Remmers and Trent Lopez each pitched in relief to preserve the lead.
- Blake Janowicz (0-4) took the loss for Sonoma
Game two
Sonoma put up a three spot in the third to start the scoring. An RBI ground-out got the first run aboard. Kenny Decelle hit an RBI single, advanced to third off a stolen base and failed pick off and scored off an error by the third baseman. The Gators put up crooked numbers in the bottom of the inning. With bases loaded, Derek Lafarriere hit a fielder's choice RBI. Johnson singled down the left line to plate another run. The bases loaded up again and
Christian Smith hit a 2RBI single to take a 4-3 lead. Johnson hit a 2RBI single in the next inning to extend the lead to 6-3.
The Seawolves' long ball game put the game back in their favor as five of their next six runs were scored on home runs. Trailing 9-6 in the bottom of the seventh, Santos cut the lead with an RBI single. In the ninth, Schrader hit an RBI double with one out but Sonoma retired the next two batters.
- Nathan Shinn went three innings and threw four strikeouts, gave up five hits with three runs, two earned.
- David Eichhorn (3-1) took his first loss of the season after giving up six runs off seven hits.
- Jame Kobylt pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
- Nick Kamages (3-2) who pitched five innings in relief, earned the win for Sonoma.
