How They Scored

  • Western Washington took advantage of a pair of errors to plate two runs in the second. With two outs and runners at first and second, Lexi Barcomb singled to center. Emily Paulson, who was on second, went to third and scored when the throw back into the infield was booted by Makenzie Stenson in an attempt to cut the ball off. Leadoff batter Maleah Andrews followed with a groundball to Mia Misasi but Misasi couldn't field the ball cleanly, which allowed pitcher Alli Kimball to score.
  • Despite just four hits, the Gators had various chances to score. In the first inning, the Gators stranded DeLeon at third after she led off with a single to right field. SF State had a pair in scoring position in the third but pinch runner Olivia Clavero was picked off at third base, then Marley Gonzales struck out swinging to end the threat. An error in the bottom of the fifth set up runners on first and second with one out but Mia Misasi eventually flew out in a 10-pitch battle and DeLeon fouled out.
