How It Happened

A pair of sac flies in the second put the Broncos up early in game one. The Gators had a runner in scoring position twice through six innings but could not capitalize on it. SF State finally broke through in the seventh when they loaded up the bases. Murillo hit into a fielder's choice to bring one run in and French singled up the middle to tie the game up. Garza, who had limited the Broncos to just four hits through the first seven innings, had a chance to go back out there in the ninth if the game was tied. With two outs in the eighth, Brent Cota homered and the Gators couldn't score the tying run in the top of the ninth.

How It Happened

The offense started off hot in the first inning. Murillo hit a lead-off double and the next two batters were walked. Johnson hit a sac fly to plate one while Derek Laferriere hit an RBI single to give the Gators an early 2-0 lead.

A fielder's choice allowed a runner to score from third in the second for the Broncos and an RBI single tied the game up in the third. The Broncos took the lead for good in the fifth, plating two runs off four hits and added four insurance runs in the sixth. French singled up the middle in the top of the seventh to bring a run home and cut the lead to 8-3 but the Gators could not rally to close the deficit.
