How it Happened

SF State led 3-2 after a Burrell but the Golden Eagles started the game on a 13-3 run to take a 10-point lead in the first six minutes. Six consecutive Gators free throws and Caleb Oden's driving layup cut the lead to three with seven minutes to go and that forced Cal State LA to call timeout. However, turnovers allowed the Golden Eagles to stretch its lead back to nine. SF State scored the last three points of the half to trim Cal State LA's lead to 39-33.

After Levias hit a three to push the LA lead to nine to open the second half, SF State responded. Back-to-back layups from Roth and a Daniel-Dalton layup cut the lead to three. Bell stopped the bleeding with a jumper and the Gators turnovers mounted, which allowed the Golden Eagles to build their lead to 15 with 13:33 to go. The Gators' 18th turnover of the night led to an uncontested layup for Bell and a 20-point deficit with under 12 minutes to go. A 6-0 run got the Gators to within 13 with eight minutes to go but the Golden Eagles put the game out of reach at the free throw line.
