How It Happened

With a pair of runs on in the bottom of the first, Daniel Santos cleared the bases with a double to give the Gators an early lead. The Otters equalized in the fourth with back-to-back solo home runs and took the lead in the fifth when a fielder's choice allowed the runner to score from third. The Gators put up three runs in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead. Derek Laferriere and French hit back-to-back RBI singles and Justin Johnson plated a third run with a ground-out.

The Otters would cut into the Gators lead with an RBI single down the left line in the sixth but Anthony Alvarez would respond with a solo homerun in the bottom of the inning to give the Gators a 6-4 lead. With runners in scoring position and one out in the eighth, Monterey Bay hit an RBI single to advance both runners and tied things up on a Sac Fly. The Otters took their fist lead of the day in the ninth with another sac fly. Gators had bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth but Alvarez struck out to end the comeback.
