SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader on Friday to visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills, 2-1 and 6-1, at SFSU Softball Field.
- SF State slips to 14-19 and to 10-12 in CCAA play. The Gators slip from a tie for fifth place into sixth place behind Cal State San Marcos.
- The second-place Toros move to 22-12 on the year and to 15-9 in conference action.
- SF State was without its regular left fielder Phoebe Schultz. Prior to missing both games on Friday, Schultz had appeared in and started 30 of the team's 31 games.
- Lexi Holihan and Mia Misasi both had two-hit games in game one. Marissa Jordan collected two hits in game two.
- Kai DeLeon had a hit in game one and reached on a fielder's choice in game two. The second baseman has now reached safely in 30 of the Gators' 33 games this season.
- The Gators were outhit 7-6 in each game.
Game One
- CSUDH got all it needed in the fourth inning. After back-to-back Toros singles, Mireya Rico doubled down the left field line to bring home a run. Alex Davis drove home a run on a fielder's choice when Kaylee Hull beat the throw home.
- The Gators got a run back in the fifth. Holihan found new life after a foul ball was dropped. She eventually singled and pinch hitter Emily Madrigal later scored from second on a DeLeon RBI single through the left side. However, the Gators weren't able to tie it and stranded runners on first and second with one out. The Gators did not get another baserunner after that.
- Mari Takeda Bajan (5-8) gave up two runs on seven hits. She walked and struck out three.
- Mariah Ramirez (15-6) did not allow an earned run. She scattered six hits, walked just one, and struck out seven.
Game Two
- Jay Ross and Ramirez both homered in the first inning and the Toros quickly led 3-0.
- The Toros added a fourth run in the second when Aguado tripled down the right field line to score Julissa Gomez.
- The Gators got a run back in the fifth. Jordan doubled and scored on Nia Trinidad's 1-6-3 groundout.
- CSUDH added two more runs in the seventh thanks a two-run double from Ross. However, the Toros did leave the bases loaded.
- Gators starter Elise Roy (8-6) was charged with six earned runs on seven hits. She walked four and struck out one.
- Ashley Wies (4-3) allowed just one run on six hits over 90 pitches. She did not walk or strike out any batters.
