  • The Gators improve to 7-11 overall and Cal Poly Pomona drops to 10-8 overall. Both teams are now 5-7 in CCAA play and are in a five-way place for fifth place.
  • The Gators defense held an opponent to under 50 points for the second time this season and limited the Broncos to their lowest offensive output of the season.
  • Caden Flowers posted a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Flowers had 11 points by halftime and made his first six three-point attempts, finishing the day 6-for-7 from deep. He also had a team-high four assists.
  • John Bakke added 14 points. Pearse Uniacke posted a double-double with 11 points and a 10 rebounds, which matched a career-high.
  • Uniacke, who is ninth in NCAA Division II and the CCAA leader in blocks, added three more to bring his season total to 44. That ties him for fifth in program history in a single season with Terrence Super (1999-00). Next on the list is Lawrence Williams' 46 in 1991-92. Williams is the program's career leader with 222 and also holds the top two spots with 57 in 1993-94 and a staggering 103 in 1994-95. Uniacke has 63, one behind Jonah Roth (2022-24).
  • As a team, the Gators finished with 16 assists, the team's second-highest tally in a single game this season.
  • A Bronco did not reach double digits until Miles Lewis' bucket with 3:35 to play. He led CCP with 10 points, and Caleb Nelson added nine in the loss. Kevin Simeth had a team-high seven rebounds for the Broncos.
  • SF State edged the Broncos 37-33 on the glass.
  • SF State finished the day at 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the field, including 39.1 percent (9-of-23) from behind the arc. The Broncos shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56) and just 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from deep.

How It Happened

CPP led by seven with 15:31 to go in the half but saw their last lead at the six-minute mark. The Broncos led 19-16 on Demarreya Lewis-Cooper's stepback jumper. Flowers connected with Bakke for a layup that trimmed the lead to one, then Bakke connected with Flowers for a three-ball that made it 21-19 in favor of the Gators. The Broncos briefly tied the game at 21-21 but the Gators led 32-26 by the half.

On the first possession of the second half, Burrell lobbed a pass into Uniacke in the post for an easy bucket, then Burrell buried a three from the top left to make it an 11-point Gators lead with 18:41 to go. The Gators extended that into a 16-0 run that lasted for over five minutes. By the end, SF State led 48-26. The lead grew to as large as 23. Cal Poly Pomona got to within 13 but the Gators never relinquished control. In fact, after Simeth's bucket at the 3:35 mark, SF State did not allow the Broncos to score the remainder of the game.
