How It Happened

The Gators held a two-point lead after the first quarter thanks to shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from deep. Fouls allowed the Otters to stay close to the Gators' lead as they went 7-for-8 from the charity stripe. With 6:36 remaining in the second and up 21-19, Alvarado drew her third foul and was sent to the bench for the remainder of the quarter. The Gators struggled to get anything going and the Otters outscored them 14-2 to take a 33-23 lead at halftime.

Fouls and turnovers by the Otters allowed the Gators to comeback in the third. Tied 54-54 with a tick over 30 seconds remaining in the game, the Otters had a chance to win but the Gators were able to box them out and force a missed shot from deep to go into overtime.

Down by two, Asiasi made a layup to tie the game at 58-58. The Otters stole the ball from Alvarado with under 20 seconds to go. Out of a time-out, the Otters turned the ball over on the inbound pass and Ana Daniels corralled the ball. Daniels fell to the ground and the officials deemed it a travel. The Gators caught a break when the Otters turned the ball over thanks to a five second violation. Alvarado missed the jumper but the Gators got the jump ball and had one more possession with .7 seconds left. Alvarado got the shot off but it barely missed the rim and the Gators went to double overtime.

Down by one with 10.4 seconds in the second overtime, the Gators called a timeout. Bradley found Daniels for a lay-up to give the Gators the lead with 3.4 left. The Otters in-bounded the ball but Daniels poked the ball free and time expired.
