WBB | Offense Comes to Life In Win Over Warriors

TURLOCK, Calif. – The San Francisco State women's basketball team scored a season-high 82 points in a 82-71 win over Stanislaus State Saturday afternoon.

  • The Gators improve to 8-11 overall and 6-8 in the CCAA. The Warriors are the second conference foe the Gators have swept this season. Stanislaus falls to 5-15 and 4-10 in conference.
  • Alexsandra Alvarado recorded a season-high 26 points, just one more point than her previous meeting with the Warriors. Three other Gators reached double figures: Geriah Bradley (12), Ana Daniels (11) and Imani Felix (11).
  • SF State utilized opportunities at the line and went 23-for-27. Alvarado was a perfect 9-for-9.
  • The Gators dished a season-high 19 assists. Bradley led the team with six, followed by Alvarado with five.
  • Da'Myiah Lewis led the Warriors with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

How It Happened

The Gators pounced to an early 9-2 lead to start the game. Stanislaus would come back to tie but the Gators pulled ahead again. SF State outscored the Warriors 7-2 in the final minute and a half to lead 24-18. Alvarado had 10 points in the first quarter alone. SF State got its first double-digit lead off a deep free from Alvarado to go up 32-22 with 3:52 left.
 
Heading into the third quarter up 36-27, the Gators shoot the ball well to extend the lead to its highest of the game up 48-31 with 5:01 left. Fouls and turnovers allowed the Warriors to comeback within two possessions in the quarter. With 5:46 remaining in the fourth, Stanislaus' Lewis scored and made the and-one basket to tie the game up at 60 all. Kali Myers' three sparked a 7-0 run that put the Gators up 69-62. The Warriors missed their next two baskets and the Gators were able to hold steady at the free throw line, finishing the quarter going 15-for-18
