SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The San Francisco State women's basketball team could not claim a road win over Cal State San Marcos and fell 71-55.
- The Gators fall to 8-12 overall and 6-9 in the CCAA. San Marcos improves to 4-16 and 4-10 in conference.
- Geriah Bradley had a season-high 17 points to lead the Gators. Nyana Asiasi chipped in 13 and went 3-for-5 from three
- SF State committed 20 turnovers while the Cougars scored 23 points off turnovers.
- Cougars got 24 points from the bench compared to the Gators six.
- Rory Hetrick led San Marcos with 17 points.
Good three ball shooting kept the Gators close to a Cougar team that was shooting 60.0 percent from the field in the first quarter. A late turnover from Bradley with 15 seconds left allowed San Marcos to score and make it a 21-13 game.
A three basket from Rose Morse gave the Cougars their largest lead of the second at 32-20. A 7-0 run with under three minutes to go in the quarter put them within a possession of the Cougars lead. But the Cougars scored on a second chance basket and a turnover to take a 38-31 lead into halftime.
San Marcos knocked down two quick three-pointers and the Gators immediately called a timeout. A 6-0 run out of the timeout helped the Gators back into the game but they went scoreless for over four minutes as the Cougars reclaimed their double-digit lead.
With four minutes left in the game, a steal followed by a lay-up from Nyana Asiasi cut the Cougars lead to 63-55. But turnovers on their next two possessions followed by three missed baskets cut the comeback short.
