How It Happened

The Gators trailed throughout the first quarter but never allowed Stanislaus to go up by more than two possessions. With eight seconds to go, Nyana Asiasi drew a shooting foul and made both shots at the line to cut the Warriors lead down to 16-14. Ana Daniels stole the ball on the ensuing possession but could not get the layup on the fast break.

SF State got its first lead in the second with a driving lay-up from Bradley with 6:24 remaining to go up 22-20. The Warriors would reclaim the lead but a pair of made free throws from Alvarado closed out the quarter and gave the Gators a 29-28 lead heading into the locker room.

The Warriors grabbed some momentum in the third and went 3-for-4 from three to lead by as much as ten in the quarter. Alvarado scored three straight baskets to cut the deficit to 41-39 with 2:36 remaining in the quarter. Down 45-40 to open the final frame, Kali Myers scored back-to-back threes to make it a one point game down 47-46. A 7-0 run put the Gators up 57-50 with 4:13 to go. The Warriors came within one of the lead but a three from Alvarado put the Gators up by two possessions with 2:40 remaining. Stanislaus turned the ball over on back-to-back possessions and the Gators got the job done at the line to hold on for the win.
