SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State volleyball team fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 13-15) to close out the four-game homestand.
- The Gators fall to 6-9 on the season and 5-3 in the CCAA. Dominguez Hills improves to 6-9 and 3-5 in the CCAA.
- Aidan Goodrich led the Gators with 19 kills. Grace Witcher and Tamiya Wilson were right behind her with 16 and 15.
- Melanie Hewlett had 52 assists on the day.
- Taylor Vales had 22 digs to lead the Gators.
- The Toros held a 12 to six advantage on blocks.
After a couple of Gator errors put Dominguez Hills on top early, the Gators went on a 6-0 run to lead 13-10 and force a Toros time-out. The Toros came back within one of the Gators lead but
Lilly Rix and Goodrich each landed kills to give the Gators enough of a cushion to take home the set.
In a close second set, the Toros pulled away on a 7-1 run to lead 23-16. The Gators had three attack errors and a service error during the run.
Gators took their largest lead of the third set to go up 14-10. Hewlett dumped the ball for a kill to reach set point up 24-20. The Toros landed three straight kills but Witcher finally connected with Hewlett to end the set.
SF State trailed throughout the fourth set. Down 24-18, the Gators rallied to come within two but Goodrich's attack sailed out on the next rally to force a fifth set.
The Toros took the momentum into the fifth set to take an early lead. The Gators would come back to tie it at 13-13 but Anna Sanzaro landed a kill for the Toros and the Toros took the match with an ace.
