WSOC | Gators' Comeback Falls Short

CHICO, Calif. - Kaya Mitchem scored a goal to cut Chico States' lead in half but the San Francisco State women's soccer team fell to the Wildcats 2-1.

  • SF State falls to 1-9-3 on the season and 1-4-1 in the CCAA. Chico State improves toto 6-5-2 and 4-2-0 in CCAA action.
  • Mitchem's goal was the first of the season and third of her career.
  • The Gators had three shots compared to Chico's 30.
  • Chico had 10 corner kicks compared to the Gator's two.

 How It Happened



A foul by Kelsey Burrus in the box led to a penalty kick opportunity for Chico. Gabby Starr capitalized and scored in the eighth minute. Jiana Martin doubled up the score with a goal in the 17th minute. Mitchem managed some traffic and scored in the 77th minute. The Gators could get a shot off the next 13 minutes to tie the game up.

Kylie Tone (1-3-3) made five saves in the loss. Chico's Kennedy Briseno did not record a save and allowed a goal through 90 minutes.
