SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State women's team couldn't overcome early shooting troubles and fell 64-53.
- SF State drops its first game of the season and falls to 2-1. Dominican remains undefeated at 3-0.
- The Gators finished the game shooting 32.7 percent but shot 20 percent or lower in the first two quarters.
- SF State turned the ball over 30 times. Dominican scored 29 points off turnovers including 18 in the second quarter.
- The Gators went 14-for-17 at the line.
The Gators struggled to make shots in the first two quarters and turned the ball over several times to squash momentum. Anyce Jeffereson cut Domincan's lead down to 12-9 with a lay-up and 2:42 minutes remaining. But the Gators struggled to get anything going in the second quarter with their only basket coming from a three pointer made by Alexandra Surrena-Thompson. Dominican pulled ahead 35-15 heading into the locker room.
The Gators cut away at the Penguins lead in the third quarter. Surrena-Thompson got the Gators within six of the lead with another three point basket to cut Dominican's lead to 49-43 with 7:26 remaining in the fourth. The Gators had four turnovers over the next five possessions as Domincan started to pull away.
