How It Happened

SF State pulled ahead 9-5 early, capped off by Flowers' driving layup. Gilat knocked down a three with just over 14 minutes left in the first for his first basket of the afternoon. Both teams traded three's midway through the half, with Cooks making one from the wing off a dish from John Bakke. Oden had a booming dunk and Flowers followed with a triple on the ensuing possession as SF State now led 24-20 around the eight-minute mark. The Gators closed out the half on a 12-3 run to head into halftime up 42-32.

Back-to-back threes by Burrell and Oden pushed the Gator advantage to 48-34 to start the second half. SF State continued its strong offensive showing, putting together an 18-6 run while going 7-of-9 from the field to go up 73-50, its largest lead of the day. SF State was also able to force key turnovers off Rob Diaz, two of the 21 turnovers by Humboldt on the day. The Lumberjacks were able to inch closer with 12 points in the final four minutes, but SF State put it away for the 81-67 win.
