How It Happened

Both teams struggled with ball control as the Gators turned the ball over five times and the Broncos seven times in the first quarter. Down 14-10 with seconds remaining, Alvarado drove for a lay-up to cut the Broncos deficit to one basket. On the first possession of the second quarter, Alvarado missed her basket but the Gators got the dead ball rebound and she banked a three for the first lead for the Gators. Both teams went cold the next two minutes before Kalaya Buggs three gave the Broncos the lead back. Myers shot a long three and Alvarado scored on the next possession to lead 25-24 with 18 seconds remaining. Bradley fouled the Broncos on the way back and the Broncos made both shots at the line to take the lead before halftime.

Back-to-back three from the Broncos followed by a scoop and score led to a Gator timeout down 34-29. But the Gators could not find anything on offense as the Broncos went on a 6-1 run before a second timeout was called. SF State looked to cut the deficit to single digits at the end of the quarter but a turnover led to a buzzer beater basket from the Broncos at the end of the third. The Broncos scored five points over the first two and a half minutes of the fourth quarter to go up by 19 and never look back.
