How It Happened

Bodee Wright hit a first pitch lead-off home run to start the game. The Gators equalized in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot over right field from Cunninghum. A three-run home run capped off a six-run third that put Billings up 7-1. With bases loaded in the fourth, the Yellowjackets Ryan Jeffrey singled and the next batter drew a walk to extend the lead to 9-1. In the bottom of the fourth, Allred singled to right with bases loaded to move everyone up a base. The Gators looked to do more damage but Kyle Olimpia hit into a double play to end the inning.

Murillo's solo shot sparked a five run fifth inning for the Gators. With a pair of runners in scoring position, Derek Laferriere reached first on a throwing error, allowing both runners to come home. After Justion Johnson walked to put runners on the corners, Allred singled down the right line and Olimpia singled to center to cut the deficit to two runs. The Yellowjackets singled up the middle in the next inning to bring the lead back up by three at 10-7. Cunningham cleared the bases with a 2RBI double to right center in the bottom of the seventh. Down 10-9 in the bottom of the ninth, Cunningham hit a ball deep to center that looked like it could go out of the park but the winds kept it in and the Gators had to settle for a RBI tying ground rule double.

In the bottom of the tenth, the Gators drew a lead-off walk and Johnson landed a sac bunt to advance the runner to second. Billings intentionally walked Allred to bring up Espinoza who was a defensive substitution from the top of the inning. Espinoza took the second pitch he saw to right center to walk it off for the Gators.
