LOS ANGELES — The San Francisco State baseball team erased an early deficit to Cal State LA but gave up eight runs between the sixth and eighth innings to fall to Cal State LA, 12-8.
- SF State fall to 11-10 on the season and 7-6 in the CCAA. Cal State LA improves to 8-11 and 5-4 in the CCAA.
- The Gators committed three errors and struck out 12 times.
- Daniel Murillo became the first Gator to hit a triple this season and went 2-for-5 at the plate.
- Stephen Espinoza led the Gators with three RBI.
The Gators gave up four runs in the first without recording an out. The cut the lead in half in the third when
Daniel Murillo tripled to right and
Nicholas Allred hit a sac fly to bring him home. Back-to-back singles allowed another run to score. SF State put up four runs in the fourth to take the lead. With a pair of runners on, Espinoza singled to right to bring one home. Both runners moved to scoring position and Murillo singled up the middle to drive both home.
Michael Cunningham doubled to left field to plate Murillo at home. The Gators added a pair of runs in the fifth when Espinoza sent the ball up the middle to allow both runners in scoring position to score.
In the bottom of the sixth, Cal State LA loaded the bases without registering an out. Back-to-back walks scored runs, a fielders' choice scored another and a fourth run scored off a sac fly to tie the game at 8-8. The Golden Eagles put up two runs in the seventh and eighth while the Gators' offense stayed quiet the rest of the game.
- Ryan Garza started but did not make it past the first inning, giving up four runs before getting pulled.
- Tyler Ohlson held it down for 3.1 innings out of the pen and did not give up a run. He allowed four hits and tossed five strikeouts.
- Anthony Alvarez went an inning, tossing three strikeouts. He gave up four runs with only one earned
- Andrew Silva pitched the final three innings, giving up four runs on five hits and taking the loss.
- Anthony Diaz earned the win while Joel Martinez earned a save.
