How It Happened

After three quiet innings, the Gators got on the board first. Santos drew a walk and Sugden hit a full count double to left field to plate Santos. In the top of the fifth, Murillo and Allred were both in scoring position when Johnson hit a double down the left line to bring both in. The Golden Eagles got both runs back in the bottom of the inning as Alberto Prado hit a lead-off hit, Kadyn Victorian hit a two-out single and Malik Clayton brought them both home with a double. They took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth. With a pair of runs on first and second, Prado singled to advance both runners two bases and a passed ball allowed a runner a third to score.

The Gators took the lead back in the seventh. Allred singled and stole second and was brought home by Cunningham. Cunningham made his way to third and a single up the middle for Santos gave the Gators the lead back up 5-4. But LA had another two-run inning as a two-run blast put the Golden Eagles back up. Sugden tied the game again in the eighth with a solo home run and Allred gave the Gators the lead with a sac fly. LA tied the game again in the bottom of the inning with a fielder's choice allowing the run at third to score. Tied in the ninth, the Gators had a chance to take the lead with a runner in scoring position but could not capitalize and went into extra innings. The Gators were an out away from sending the game to the 11th inning but a single followed by a home run ended the game.
