SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team came back from an early deficit but fell behind in later innings and ultimately fell 10-9 to Cal State San Marcos.
- SF State falls to 12-13 on the season and 8-9 in the CCAA. Cal State San Marcos improves to 11-9 and 6-5 in the CCAA.
- Michael Cunningham and Kyle Olimpia each homer on the day. Cunningham now holds the team record with nine and has 18 career home runs.
- Nicholas Cook and Daniel Murillo each had three-hit days with Cook recording a double and Murillo a triple.
- While the Gators had the advantage in hits 15-14, the Cougars left fewer players on base (eight compared to nine).
Cal State San Marco's Phoenix Sommay was hit by a pitch to open the game. He moved over to second on a sac bunt, advanced to third on an errant pick-off and scored off a single to right field. San Marcos added five more runs in the second with three coming from a home run by Garrett Teunissen. The Gators got most of it back in the bottom of the inning.

Justin Johnson hit a sac fly to make it a 6-4 game. Olimpia equalized the score with a first pitch home run in the third. Cunningham hit a solo shot to open the fourth to give the Gators the lead. With a runner at third,

he Cougars tied it up in the fifth. With runners on first and second, an RBI single placed a pair of runners at the corners. The Cougars attempted a double steal with the runner at first getting to second safely while the run at third went home. The runner at second tried to go for another bag but was picked off. The Cougars took the lead again with an RBI single up the middle in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh the same method. The Gators opened the bottom of the ninth with a pair of runners on and no outs. A sac bunt moved both in scoring position. Cook hit a sac fly to cut the lead to one. Murillo had a chance to tie the game but hit a fly out for the final out.
- Andrew Silva made his first start of the season. He went two innings, giving up six runs.
- River Diaz De Leon faced the minimum in the third.
- Nathan Shinn (4-2) closed out the game, giving up four runs and tossing four strikeouts.
- Masen McDonnell (1-0) picked up the win in relief while Nolan Long earned his third save.
