How It Happened

The Cougars drew a lead-off walk to open the game, advanced the runner on a pair of groundouts and scored off a sharp hit to short. Daniel Murillo scored in a similar fashion. He drew a lead-off walk, advanced to second on a groundout and came home via a single by Nicholas Allred. Both teams went hitless the next three innings. AJ Schrader hit a lead off double in the fifth. Derek Laferierre hit a single and stole second to eliminate the double play option. Olipmia grounded out on the next at bat, allowing Schrader to come home. The Gators faced adversity in the eighth when the Cougars loaded the bases with one out but Daniel Murillo and Jackson Wood turned a double play to get out of the inning unscratched. Johnson added an insurance run with a first pitch home run in the ninth. The Cougars got a hit in the ninth but couldn't do much with it.
