TURLOCK — The San Francisco State baseball team exploded for 18 runs while the pitching staff limited the Warriors to one hit in a 18-0 victory over Stanislaus State
- SF State improves to 16-13 on the season and 12-9 in the CCAA. Stanislaus State falls to 10-15 and 5-10 in the CCAA.
- Michael Cunningham had a team-high six RBIs and went 3-for-4 with a home runs and three runs scored. His 11 home runs on the season ranks third in a single season and his 20 career home runs are two shy of tying the all-time record.
- The Gators recorded a season-high 18 hits with six players having multi-hit games Nicholas Allred led the team in hits and went 4-for-6 with two doubles.
- SF State also matched a season-high 10 walks. Jackson Wood had a team-high three walks. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles.
- Defensively, the Gators limited Stanislaus to one hit, a walk and hit by pitch. The shutout is the fourth this season and most in the CCAA
The Gators put up six runs in the second and never looked back.
Kyle Olimpia got things started with a sac fly. With bases loaded, Allred hit a single to center to bring two runners home. Another batter walked before Cunningham launched a three-run homer to take a 6-0 lead. In the fourth, Allred doubled with runners in scoring position bring in one. Cunningham cleared the bases with a 2 RBI single to right.
Justin Johnson walked and Wood doubled to right center to extend the lead to 11-0. With two outs in the fifth and runners on first and second, Cunningham, Johnson and Wood each had RBI hits to extend the lead to 14-0. The Gators added three more runs in the sixth and another in the eighth.
- Anthony Alvarez went three scoreless innings to open the game, only giving up a walk.
- Nathan Shinn (5-2) pitched the bulk of the game in relief, going five innings and giving up the only hit of the game. He also struck out five.
- Daniel Smith came on in the ninth and struck out two.
- Austine Balentine (2-3) only made it through 3.1 innings and gave up 11 runs.
