MBB | Four Gators Earn CSC Academic All-District®

SAN FRANCISCO - Four student-athletes from the San Francisco State men's basketball team has been named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® men's basketball team, as selected by College Sports Communicators.

John Bakke, Alex Gilat, Devon Jackson and Donovan Cooks earned the honor for the Gators. Gilat earned it for a three straight season while Jackson earned it for the second time

The program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the pitch and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Baake earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention in his final season with the Gators. The senior from Yorba Linda played and started in every game this past season and played in his 101st game in the final game of the season. He finished second on the team in points (356) and rebounds (168). His shooting percentage of .469 ranked fifth in the CCAA. Bakke also added 60 assists, 38 steals and 10 blocks. Bakke will graduate with a degree in Business.

Gilat holds a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in business. The senior from Ascot, United Kingdom played in every game and made one start. He averaged 14.1 minutes per game, 2.6 ppg and 1.5 rebounds per game. Gilat also recorded 16 steals.

Jackson played in every game and made two starts. He averaged 11.3 minutes per game, 3.1 ppg amd 1.2 rebounds per game. He also added 15 assists and four blocks. The senior from Dublin will graduate with a degree in Liberal Studies.

Cooks played in 26 games last season. The sophomore from Dublin averaged 12.5 minutes per game, 4.6 ppg, 2.0 rebounds a game and recorded 17 steals and 15 assists.

To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at her current institution. Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's matches. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
